Tax refund deposits aren't an issue because there is documentation.
Since it is a new construction type home, why don't you deposit the funds in a new account and let them sit there until closing like frugalQ suggested. I would still check with the LO and u/w to make sure you are following procedure for documenting the wedding gift funds. I am sure this is not the first time they have seen cash wedding gifts Lol...
