Also this year I am funding home renovations (decided to not touch home equity) for a total cost of 6k. I am redoing the bathroom, kitchen, and new hardwood floors on the first level (dining room, living room and kitchen).
I bought my home in 2008 so I've had it for almost 8 years. At the time I purchased it for 160,000 with a 5.5 interest rate. It has been my best financial accomplishment so far. Good luck on your future home. And keep saving for retirement!
