I agree with WAS

 

Buying real estate that is positive cash flow at a good price in a good area is low risk. It does involve some work though but you can hire a property manager.

 

If you can't beat the market, which most can't , be the market. If you are unsure about how to value and pick stocks and can't stomach the volatility, buy an index fund.

 

My first choice would be real estate.
