Icy...it's great u want to help your family out but you have got to start looking out for número uno. Hopefully nothing will happen to your BOA accounts.

Re: My sister just did the dumbest thing

Like others have said, family and money/ using your name to help someone estalish something or get a checking account is usually a bad idea.

No matter how much you love a family member, people and money mixed together can get funny.

Re: My sister just did the dumbest thing

I don't really hold it against her, like I said she's only 16 and she was preyed on by scammer. Thankfully, I found a smaller bank that will allow her to open her own account with me

Re: My sister just did the dumbest thing

Well honestly, you should know better. If I got a scam check in the mail..I wouldn't have cashed it, then again I'm not 16. I don't think she was "preyed" on because I get those checks in the mail all the time.

Re: My sister just did the dumbest thing

I believe it was one of those situations where someone acts like they're interested in hiring you for a service and they tell you they'll pay you in advance but they need you to send them back a portion. I'm familiar because it almost happened to me when I was around 19, but I did my research

Lesson learned: if your sister wanted a bank account badly enough she could have opened one. There are bank accounts for teens/students/etc.

It could hurt you like tuolumne said. If you have checking/savings/everything with BOA, why do you need to open a Citi account as well? They may be able to see what happened with BOA and not let you.

Yeah but perhaps he wanted to transfer money to her account should she need money? Just easier that way.
