If you call them, they'll do it right then, as long as they can find your app.
I emailed my app along with NLSD welcome email, I'D and SS card last night, then I called today around 3pm. They pulled up my app and approved me right away. If you call, they expedite it by doing it while your on the phone with them.
By the way, they did a Hard credit pull on my TU report.
Aren't you concerned about using unsecured email to send the app & supporting docs that has your name, address, DOB & Social Security number?
I've been resisting this for awhile as it's quite a process just to join a CU, even one of the best ones. But I did the San Diego Navy League yesterday, but I'm thinking of either (snail) mailing or faxing my app & docs. I have an app that can password protect a PDF file, but am thinking if I send them a password protected PDF they'll just delete before I can call & give them the PW.

That does seem like a reasonable solution - I would call Member Services and ask exactly that question: what happens if I email in a password protected PDF, then call you with the password?

For me, joining and applying then waiting what seemed like forever for all to be approved I can honestly say was absolutely worth it! Great credit union! I am so happy with my membership, my card, my CLOC, and especially the great service I get when I call or chat online. Best of luck to you! Some good things are worth waiting for, imho. Just my two cents.

Good suggestion, I'll call tomorrow & ask.
If you like - they are there now, though. 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Yes, even Christmas.

Yea, I didn't worry about the security of the email to be honest with you, however, I did delete the email out of my sent box so there was no trace of it on my end. But that's a very good point.
I think the pdf password thing is a great idea, assuming that you call before hand and let them know what's going on, and that they accept that way. Good luck.
I too am very happy with nfcu all around. Customer service really is top notch.
My scores are in the mid to upper 500s, with 2-3 collections on each, and 6 lates total (3 on each of my 2 student loans) from 2015. My utilization was 80%, but I just paid all my balances down to around 15%. (Still hasn't updated on my CRs though) Do you guys think I should app for one of NFCUs CCs, or will I get denied?
Unsecured CC's with navy start ~620-650. With your scores, go secured and look for it to graduate (unsecure) as your scores continue to improve
Good Luck!
