@Anonymous wrote:Looking to switch my Life Insurance to a different Insurance Company, Wondering who you have yours through? I currently have mine thru Farmers, but would like to switch. Also I have a whole life policy right now, but pay quite a bit of money for it each month. Considering switching to a term? Anyone have any thoughts?
Whole life policies are a poor investment. If you need a policy, go term - much more reasonable cost. Just make sure you are covered if your "status" changes.
My wife and I carry only the nominal 1x salary "free" life insurance through our current employers now that our daughter is a senior in college. Years ago I had a variable appreciable life policy through Prudential - but it was part of a class action lawsuit. I collected my settlement and went strictly term - no looking back.
I have had term life insurance since I was in my 20s (50s now). It is through Allstate (who bought Lincoln Life): $500,000 coverage for < $100/month.
You should normally need life insurance more while you`re relatively young, in theory. That is why Term is a good deal.
My wife and I have a 30 year 300k term life insurance through AAA. I pay $53 a month and hers is $40. Our policy allows us to get back all the premiums we paid at the end of the term however. Otherwise the premiums would have been $27 and $21.
My dad has WAEPA (Worldwide Assurance for Employees of Public Agencies) from his previous employer (he is now retired). He also has a policy from SBLI (The Savings Bank Life Insurance Company of Massachusetts).
