Stock prices go up and down from year to year. But over the long term, stocks typically have a higher return and lower volatility. I had a financial advisor do a recommendation for me, and they recommended 100% global stocks. So far, my income (I'm taking money out based on Substantially Equal Periodic Payments, one of the twelve exemptions from the 10% early withdrawal penalty for an IRA) has gone up each year. I have one more year where I have to use the SEPP formula, then I get to take what I need to live on until the Required MInimum Distributions start up at 70 1/2. The intent of the RMDs is to deplete your money over your lifetime, but I suspect my financial advisor can offer me a taxable account to take what i don't need to live on.
