1099-c

I received a 1099-c.  I filed a dispute with the CA, I included a copy of the 1099-c.  EQ an EX came back as valid, still showing the balance.  I thought the oc had to report  zero balance when they send the 1099-c.  What would be the next step?

thanks,

Re: 1099-c

I thought so too. I just received a 1099c and was getting ready to dispute the balance with the OC.

Re: 1099-c

The law is actually unsettled on that point. The court cases are all over the map on it.

Re: 1099-c

Your post refers to both an OC and a CA.

Who sent the 1099c, and is the updating to which you refer relate to reporing by a debt collector or the OC?

Does it relate to a debt that you settled for less than the full amount, and if so, is the amount of the 1099c the difference?
