I would call the Dept of Treasury and have a conversation. It's possible that they screwed up....I know, I know....say it isn't so!
I been on the phone with them for the last 30 minutes...and as usually the goverment organizations are no help what so ever...they said the account is closed and nothing they can do...I will call back in a couple of hours and ask to speak to someone highing in the org.
I would send a direct dispute if they continue to say there is nothing they can do.

File a dispute through the CFPB, it will get fixed within a couple of weeks.
