2 CA both validated same exact debt

I had an old debt with ATT that was with a CA for a while, I sent off DV and while waiting a new collection agency added the same account to credit report. Both have no validated the same debt. Is that even possible?? I don't even know who to pay or what to do.

First CA was collection company of america and new one is enhanced recovery.

Its possible that ATT might have recalled your account from CCA and re-assigned it to enhanced recovery. Does ATT still own this account?

Since only one CA can attempt to collect at a time, if ATT did recall the debt, one of the CAs should not have validated.

I would contact ATT and find out who has the debt.
