GW letters are only useful when the item is paid, and GW only goes to the original creditor (paid, or unpaid, but usually don't work), or the collection agency (when paid).
GW is basically a letter asking for "help" of sorts, and an explanation of why things happened the way they did.
My one pet peeve is the person that asks for a copy of the exact letter that worked for someone else, showing no effort individually.
