6 years ago I moved cities and changed bank accounts. Stupidly I didn't transfer my student loan auto pay and I got a a 30/60/90/120 late payment on my Perkins loan through my school. When I was contacted I immediately consolidated (through a bank) and continued on time payments to this day. I would just let it drop off next year, but will be buying a house this year. Is it worth a good will letter to try and get them switched to on time? The real danger is that my Perkins loans are my oldest credit. If a well meaning person just deletes all 4 trade lines (1 for each year) my credit history will go from 10 years to 6. The only derogatory marks are on my senior year loan.

Thanks. It was a nice surprise. I had given up hope that my first attempt would work. I'm up 27 from 701. Mine was a Perkins. Good luck with your Stafford. I hear SM can be unrelenting.
