I have a collection for 1,142 with AFNI from AT&T (emergency phone use while abroad, young and stupid). I just received a settlement offer for 50%. I really want this collection removed from my CR and I have read that AFNI has recently been very difficult regarding PFD. Occasionally, I get an e-mail from AT&T saying that my bill is ready, so I'm assuming that AFNI is merely collecting the debt for AT&T. I'm ready to pay the debt in full if necessary; I'm just wondering to whom and if there is anything I should do prior to any payment.
I would send a DV to AFNI first.
That should always be your first step.
AFNI was my easiest CA to have dropped from my credit report, and they were off fast. I settled, waited a week and then emailed a GW.
They replied the next morning.
They were my easiest, I paid the settlement and they removed.
Dbs, did you also send them a GW letter?
If you could update when/if they respond, that would be awesome. Also, did you pay the full or settle?
As of today, no response. I settled on both accounts. First was paid in 2011 I believe, the other was paid a couple of weeks ago.
