AFNI

A few weeks ago, I received a letter from AFNI trying to collect for directv. I paid directv in full. I woke up to check my reports today and Afni had put themselves on my credit report showing a balance of $90. Is there anything I can do?

Re: AFNI

I had this same exact thing happen to a Comcast account I had paid in full about 8 years ago. Call Direct TV up, and find out if there is any outstanding balance. If there isn't simply dispute it and it should drop off.

Re: AFNI

A paid collection must show a balance under collection of $0.

You can dispute the accuracy of the reported balance and get it updated.

That, however, does not compel deletion of the collection.  You should send a request to the debt collector for their good-will deletion of the collection.

Otherwise, the collection will remain until approx 7 years from the DOFD that was reported by the debt collector.
