Accounts in dispute

I have three open trade lines two student loans one citi card that have serious lates on them from a year ago. The citi has a 90 day late from February 2012 and the two student loans show 120 days late from January 2012. I disputes in march of last year under bad advice and the remarks account in dispute reported by subscribor are on both trade lines. Everything is current and paid in time since then. I had heard though that if a balance is still owed an account has dispute marks on them that the lates do not count. My question is are my scores over the past year not accurate because of this. I am applying for a home loan (well wanted to anyways) my scores are almost right there. Than I read this somewhere and had a big knot in my stomach. Can somebody please clarify please. On how this will impact my score when the remarks are removed????

Re: Accounts in dispute

Yes, while a pending dispute flag is in your file, certain aspects of your history are excluded from scoring.

You need to get the flag removed.

If one is still in place, then the CRA is the culprit.  The CRA is required to conclude their reinvestigation within, normally, 30 days, and mail a Notice of Results of Reinvestigation to the consumer within 5 days thereafter.  Thus, a dispute cannot linger beyond that time period.  That Notice is the document that formally concludes the dispute, and the CRA should have, as a simple administrative matter, immediately removed the pending dispute flag as part of their processing.

I would send a complaint to the CRA for their failure to update your file to accurately reflect the concluded status of the dispute.

Re: Accounts in dispute

I have the two delinquencies above a paid charge off from capital one four total student loans all went 120 late two years ago. Thought since I was a part time student I didn't have to pay. A paid collection for 60 enhanced recovery only on EX and EQ. the good I have two cc in good standing never late. A car payment never late. Two other student loans that are pif never late. My utilization is at 65-70%. I can pay that down now. My scores are ranging from 570 to 629. I want to by a house in the summer and didn't know with having to remove the dispute comments what it would do to my scores. Also didn't know how much they would go up by paying off all cc balances. Any advice or thoughts are so much appreciated I am at my wits end with the mess I made.

Re: Accounts in dispute

I'd practice some patience, and wait to see what happens after flag removal. You really should concentrate on getting scores higher, as it'll tank once the app process begins. The baddies aren't helping, paid, or not, with a borderline minimal score.

Re: Accounts in dispute

Patience like a year patience two years? Three? I just have been trying so hard for a year now to get a home. I have the money saved for a down payment and everything. I just feel so defeated.

Re: Accounts in dispute

One step at a time will save you thousands, as compared to the desperation of getting the set of keys in hand. Been there, done that, and it didn't play out well.

Re: Accounts in dispute

Well I have a young family and really would love to get them a home. Now I am realizing this won't happen. At least anytime soon
