I received a $69 settlement offer on a $140 old AT&T bill last week and paid it today over the phone. It's no where on my reports. Which is why I went ahead and paid it so fast. It was such a small amt and this is the 2nd CA AT&T has assigned this acct to. My question is will Afni report to bureaus after I made payment today. The deadline to accept offer was 3/02. I just don't want a paid less than settlement popping up on my reports. Any experiences with this?
Techncially, if they had collection authority, they could still report that fact, but would also, in the reporting, have to also report closing of the collection, and a $0 amount under collection. Reporting of collections by a debt collector is done primarily as a collection tacttic, and with lack of any business benefit in reporting after their collection has been terminated, I doubt they will do so.
