I have been activity monitoring my credit reports and I received an alert with a collection showing up on all three reports, following by a collection notice from Afni for old AT&T from three years go when I was living in Texas, since then I have been living in in Virginia.
I had no idea about this account but since it was $117 I settled the amount over the phone, problem is the collector I spoke to mentioned they do not do PDF? Any thoughts, how to deal with this issue. Any action I can take to salvage my points.
This thing is impacting my score by 20 plus points and I am suppose to apply for the mortgage in 6 weeks? my current score is 657 TU and in 660s for both EQ & TR

I recieved a dunning from them then sent a DV. They are not yet on my reports and DOFD is 7/2006. Anyone have this situation? If they verify, would I be able to negotiate a pay before reporting?
Is this an account you recall owing? I don't see any reason not to negotiate a settlement w/ AFNI. Especially if they respond to your DV with verification.
AFNI is actually one of the easier CA's to deal with in my experience. Pick up the phone and call to negotiate they usually will work with people. You can also write a letter but you risk them reporting while the letter is in the mail, etc. Also once they verify they will probably report the TL to the CRA.
SOL is 5 years and according to dofd it is 6 years. I'm afraid they'll report before I recieve verification.
