Afraid to pay collections

I have been successful disputing a number of collections over the years, currently I have 5 that need to be dealt with, I have been unable to get those to fall off through dispute. My concern is if I go in and pay the amount owed on the collections that I cannot dispute off, will they go back and add any collections to my report that I was able to get off via dispute? Where I live pretty much everyone uses the same CA, so I know that successful disputes are held by the same company. I am not going to try to PFD them because they won't do it. I am going to get individual cashier checks for each one stating my name, omitting my address, and stating what each check will go to pay off, and getting individual receipts for each. The last time I paid them, they updated paid in full then I disputed the collection and it fell off. I am hoping for the same result this time, just don't want more added..... Any insight would be appreciated!

Re: Afraid to pay collections

Any disputed TL can be reinserted after the dispute if it was because it couldn't be verified and as long as it is still within the CRTP.  In order for that to happen, the CRA has to certify the debt is valid before reinserting and notify you within 5 days.

Having a collection update to paid is not a valid reason to dispute the TL.

Are these accounts updating monthly?

Re: Afraid to pay collections

No, they are only updated when I disputed them. Also, I have a collection with a cable company, I have had a few bad accts with them, they have agreed to allow me to pay them, but they won't pull it back from the CA because of the contract that won't allow them to. Should I be paying the cable company or just pay the CA? Because they won't pull them back I am still going to have to pay the collection fee.....

Re: Afraid to pay collections

Who is reporting?

If it is the CA I would offer a PFD.  If they accept then send GWs to the OC.

Re: Afraid to pay collections

The CA is reporting. They will not PFD, this is not my first rodeo with them and I tried every route to have it deleted, they WILL NOT PFD. That is why I disputed after paying in the past, may not be the most ethical thing to do, but its not illegal either. If the coin flips in favor of me great, if not, that's life.

Re: Afraid to pay collections

It is against the TOS of the forums to dispute accurate information.  If you are going to do it, don't talk about it.
