It seems to be very uncommon if a 20 something has a score that is higher than 680-700 at the most. All the 20 somethings I have seen with credit score above 700 have a VERY thin credit file. Maybe one or two revolving accounts and a auto loan. Would it be safe to assume the average credit score for someone in their mid 20's with a detailed credit history would be no higher than maybe 680-685?
I'm not sure if age would keep you from having a high 700 - 800 score, but I would guess it depended on if you had a balance of types of credit (several revolving, a mortgage, installment loan or 2). The thing that really hinders due to age is the fact that someone in their early 20's just wouldn't have a long AAoA.
This is a great topic. Keep it going.
Exactly my two points
AAofA and thin credit files. As you begin to add more accounts score will drop. Although your husband has a 810 now, he has 3 cards, probably with low CL's. One or two apps and a maxed out card or two could easily drop his score to sub to low 700's.
