Alliance One SOLD debt to NCO....I immediately paid NCO. I emailed Alliance One asking them to remove themselves from CRA. No answer.
I called Alliance this morning. His take on this was: We don't have to remove the reporting because NCO hasn't reported you. HUH??????? And he knows this how?
After I explained to him the 'rules' he then said....Oh as soon as I hear from Columbia that this account has been paid, we will remove it.
What's that got to do with anything? Off to the BBB and then some.
Not what you want to hear, but there is no requirement for debt collector 1 to delete their prior reporting based on termination of their collection authority and subsequent reporting by debt collector 2.
They reported the fact that, at the time, they had collector authority. Subsequent reporting by another does not alter that fact.
What they are required to do upon termination of their collection is to report a $0 balance under collection, and close the collection.
The no-no is to have two debt collectors both reporting active, open collections on the same debt.
Zero is good enuf!
They are reporting as $70 open.
Go for deletion anyway.
Sounds like they've already agreed to delete on proof of payment. Keep on it!
