Short term, you could see a drop in score when the new TL reported but that would recover in about 6 months.
I agree, which is why I'd probably recommend the Credit One (albeit reluctantly). It is a rebuilder card and, as such, is set up in such a way that discourages a lot of behaviors that run people into credit issues (carrying high balances, not paying on time, etc). But if you manage it well, it could help lead to better credit offers down the road.
Before you pull the trigger, you may want to consider other options, including other secured cards or other rebuilders (Merrick, some Cap One). You might also consider some of the store cards, just to have another positive TL.
Thanks for the replies, i decided to not go with the credit one card and pay down my current cap 1 card and once im payed down see if i can get an increase in credit. speaking of capitol one though i recieved a response back from my GW letter to them today, it basically told me they reviewed my credit report and came to the conclusion that the information they were reporting was accurate and told me to not get bad marks i need to pay my minumum balance on the due date each month....REALLY???? haha thanks guys i didnt realize that,
so my question is do i send them a copy of the same letter i already sent? or do i write them a different one, it seemed like who ever read the letter thought i was questioning weather or not they reported accurate which wasnt the case, i knew what they reported was accurate but requested a good will deletion of it.
so not sure if i should respond to their letter, write a new one, or resend the one i already had written
Just write another one. Tell them in the letter, over and over, it is not a dispute, you know they are reporting correctly, just a request for a good will adjustment

+1. That sounds like a typical response.
hi welcome to the jungle. I read your post and want to give u my 2cents. First off a store card would be good but I'd wait if I were you. FICo looks at 2 bank not retail cards more favorably as per improving your score. Then build for 9 months then apply for retail .at 12 month apply for discover if u get all baddies removed. I made the mistake when I started out of getting just one card, 1 st premier 300$ limit and I had to pay 75$ for processing. Now I know everyone thinks they are the plague but they did what I needed. I had no score no open accounts at all and lots of baddies that was 3 years ago. After 9 months I applied for a autolease i got it discover 2000 limit jcp 1800 limit chase freedom 500 limit lowes 2400 I used my cards sometimes payed off whole bill sometimes left balances and just recently got cl on lowes to 7000 jcp6000 freedom 800 and discover 2800. 4-5 months after I got all these other tradelines(when AF) was due I closed the card. If you can b responsible and pay your payments on time Id suggest 1st premier. They don't report as secured. Then let it do it's job while you do yours and you will definitely come out the other end of what must seem like the darkest pit right now. Sorry if I rambled but plz let me know how your doing and if I can help in anyway.
