Just because the account was closed does not absolve one from monthly payments. You are late each and every month it remains unpaid regardless of open/closed status or even charge off status. I don't see how this adds up to inaccurate information.

Re: Applied Bank

I'm not certain on how this works but what Norman said makes sense. Until the payments are caught up, it would seem they can continue to report it as late.

Re: Applied Bank

I concur with Norman.

It is a revolving credit account, so the creditor wished to minimize further increase in debt by closing the account to further consumer charges.

That is the only relevance of the closed status.

It still remains delinquent.

However, even if you were to dispute on that basis, the outcome of a CRA reinvestigation would not mandate any deletion of the account, even if they were to find an inaccuracy.  A dispute mandates verification, correction, or if neither of those can be provided, deletion of the disputed info.

The status as open or closed is an A or B determination and thus can be corrected if inaccurate, and does not relate to the accuracy of the account/debt per se, so would not mandate deletion of any other reporting.

A dispute may, in the long run, be contrary to consumer best interest, as it wont result in any deletion, and may result in killing future good-will on the part of the creditor, which may ultimately be needed if requests, such as a PFD, are made.
