Ok, trying to clean up the credit report, this site is a huge help. Auto Loan was initially through eloan and immediately sold to System and SErvices Technology/JPMC. They were a nightmare to deal with and when my cosigner filed bankruptcy, they became even worse.
Anyway, before knowing anything about PFD's I paid the remaining $873 in October of 2013. Since then the company has not updated the report to reflect this payment and now account closure. My question is whether I should dispute it or not seeing as though the balance is not correct. I am also considering a BBB complaint due to their poor business practices during the loan, i.e blocking my online access to make payments, refusing to send a monthly statement, charging ridiculous fees for phone payments. I am wondering if I should GW first? Any thoughts as I think this account (along with others) is hurting my credit and chances of getting another auto loan. It is listed as a C/O since 09/2010, I am looking for advice on how to proceed.

I would try the GW route first and if it doesn't work a direct dispute.
It hasn't updated for several months so anything they do will update to a current date and possibly drop your score.
Can you explain why you think direct dispute is a better option than dispute with the Credit Bureau. I know the difference I am just wondering what the direct dispute advantage would be. Also, since I paid the remainder in October 2013, do you think it would be better to just leave it or have it updated to a paid in full as of 10/13.
Thanks for all the help.
A direct dispute lets you go directly to the source of the person reporting the account. You can send anything to support your claim. It is always best to go to the person reporting than through a 3rd party.
You can't do that with the CRA dispute. Even if they allow to upload documents, there is no guarantee they will all be sent to the creditor. Also, the resolution is ultimately up to the CRA based on what is in your file.
Leaving it unpaid would only matter if you were trying to get credit. It is an installment loan and doesn't factor into your revolving utilization.
However, to be accurate, it would need to reflect as paid.
I guess I am wondering if I dispute the account as it is not accurate, is there any chance that the TL gets deleted all together, or will it merely be updated to the correct status. Im not sure if it is ethical or not, but I am curious to know whether either dispute may result in a complete deletion. (not counting on it, but it would be nice). Anyway, my first order of business is to GW them to see what they can do.
A dispute could result in a deletion but they only need to correct the errors.
I would try the GW first.
