Balance dropped so did score!

My car note balance dropped by 14$ and so did my equifax score, by 13 points! Just got the alert. Why would that hurt my score?
Is it because I’m disputing the late pays on that account? Thanks

Not all score changing events generate alerts.

It is likely that the score changing event and the alert generating event are different.

Something else in your report likely caused a score drop.

+1 to Kree’s response, it likely is the result of something else. Your car loan balance wouldn’t trigger a drop in score. It could be so many things, it is impossible for us to know. Could be higher utilization on a credit card, new inquiry, or any number of things. Also disputing if anything would raise your score temporarily as it’s disputed not lower it.
