Best Course of Action

Hello Everyone,

I've been trying to take the reins and have been cleaning up my credit due to stupdiity as a teenager and young adult life. I have about 2 negative that are still on my credit report and was wondering would I be better off letting them fall off or fighting them? If the latter what is the best course of action? Thank you so much for reading!

I am not sure what you mean by "fighting them."

Is there anything inaccurate in their reporting?

If their reporting is accurate, what would be the basis for a "fight?"

As for course of action, the Macy's account still appears to be an unpaid, delinquent debt, while the Discover card appears to have been settled.

The Macy's account thus has the potential to either become worse (collection or judgment) or continued to be a factor in any future quest for credit.

Once the derogs have passed their credit report exclusion periods, then they will no loner affect your scoring, but if the debt remains unpaid, it can still be a factor in future quests for credit.  To get the derogs deleted earlier would require a GW request to the creditor, which i highly unlikely to be granted if you have not first paid the deliquent debt.

Losing money does not usually promote good will with creditors.

Re: Best Course of Action

Fighting it was a wrong choice of word. They are legitmate debts which I am all wiling to pay but I just want to know how i can have these 2 less impact my credit score.

First off, quit disputing them. Every time you do that, they update, and look "new," dragging you down further.

Robert's post sums up your options.
