Best way to tackle medical collections...I am SO close!!!

I have a few medical collections that are on my Equifax report. What is the best possible way to attempt having them removed? Offer PFD? Send GW letters? These stubborn collections are all I have left until my report is clean.

The "best way" is to attempt to get the medical debt paid via an insuror.

Under the recent agreement between the AGs of several states and the big-3 CRAs, any medical collection that is paid via an insuror will be deleted.

That recent policy is also set forth the in the CRA's "National Consumer Assistance Plan."

Of course, a PFD will result in deletion, but only if accepted by the debt collector.

Since deletion based on consumer payment of a debt is contrary to CRA reporting policy, obtaining PFD's can be difficult.

For unpaid medical debt that is reporting on your CR:

1. Call the OC and see if you qualify for Charity Care
2. If not then ask that they recall the collection in exchange for full payment
3. Send the reporting CA a PFD offer
4. Google the HIPAA Process and contact its creator for help
