CA hard pull for debt past the SOL?

[ Edited ]

I guess I've been talking to my friend too much about my credit report woes.  Now, she has a question after deciding to check her own CR.

She found a hard pull from a CA in August on a debt that is past the SOL.  But, not old enough yet to fall off her report.  She sent a DV letter, but got no reply and it's still showing.  Only Equifax is reporting it.  What's her next step?  It is not a medical bill so HIPPA won't do the trick.  And, it's too much for her to PFD.

And, the original creditor is not showing on her CR.

If she can't pay it, and they're not reporting or harassing her for payment, my suggestion at this time would be to leave it be.

She would like to try to have it removed and that's her choice.  I'm trying to help her find a way, not tell her what to do with it.  She asked me to post so I am.

Re: CA hard pull for debt past the SOL?

Is there anything that's not reporting correctly on it that would warrant a dispute?   Other than that, I don't see any possible way.  GW wouldn't work because I doubt they'd delete an unpaid account.  Maybe if she's sure it's past the SOL, she can offer a percentage of the bill for a PFD, just depends on how much she can afford.

I'm not sure about your first question.  I didn't ask.  The debt is for $2900.  I don't have any experience with PFD, but what % would she need to offer?  Yes, she's 100% sure it's past the SOL.

Debt is for $2900?   Offer them $300, see what they counter.  At least they would get something, and she would get it off her CR.

I just emailed her your suggestion, along with some links for for how to write the letter.
