CA letter from Chicago Parking from 97

   I got a letter from a collection agency saying I owe a parking ticket from a motorcycle I had that I parked in the wrong place in 1997. This is the first notice that I have received. Do I need to worry about this? I dont live in illinois and it is too old to be on my report  (i think) . It was a very threatening letter sayin they will garnish my wages etc,,,,

I live in the Chicagoland area. They recently passed a local law allowing the city of Chicago to go back 20 yrs to collect unpaid parking tickets. I talked to my consumer attorney about this he said not to worry. Parking tickets are not consumer debts. I received a letter like that about 5 months ago sent it to my attorney and never heard from the CA never again and it was never put on my credit report cause it's not a consumer debt.
