CA listing the same account twice

I have a cable collection listed from NCO twice and they won't remove it even though I have
correspondence from the cable company stating that I don't owe ANY monies.

Re: CA listing same account twice

If NCO is listing the same account twice you should DV them first to determine which account may be valid. If they are listing a balance, you can dispute with CRA with document from OC showing no balance due... But if OC sold account, then OC is correct, you don't owe them anything. DV to CA is correct approach.

Re: CA listing same account twice

I don't think they sold it, it just says "placed" for collections
it is also listed with CMI same amount same everything
I'll send dispute then wait and see

Is CMI the OC or another CA?

Who did you pay the debt to?

If NCO is duplicating their listing, then I would first DV them.

Re: CA listing same account twice

CMI is another CA

I didn't know anything about the debt until
I pulled my CR's that is when I contacted the OC
and they said there is NO Monies Owed
they were even kind enough to email a transcript
of our conversation where I was told NO MONIES owed

I would DV all the CA reporting the account.

If the OC sold the account, it will show no amount owed.

Re: CA listing same account twice

I talked to the OC again this morning, they do NOT sell their accounts

she also told me that if I would have had a balance I would have had

to pay that before they would have connected my new service.

She is also going to have their accounting dept look into the the matter

further to find out why two CA's are stating on my CR that I owe this debt.

keep your finger crossed
