CA using multiple account numbers

I have two old CA accounts - one with Asset Acceptance, and one with Portfolio Recovery.  Both of the CA's are using slight variations on the account numbers and details, in reporting to each of the CRA's.  The net result is that when viewing a combined report, it looks like I've got 6 collection accounts, instead of 2 (and 6 balances, and 6 utilizations, etc).

Any suggestions on how to attack this?

Re: CA using multiple account numbers

How much are they?  Are they within the SOL of your state?  Do you have the money to tackle these if they come after you?

Just don't want to "poke the bear" if you're not prepared for it.

Make copies of it on your CR, redact all the other info, and send it along with a 623 direct dispute to them.

Re: CA using multiple account numbers

Shogun-

are you saying I should 623 the two CA's, or the two OC's?  These are both sold CO's, one purchased by Portfolio Rec and the other by AssAcceptance.

They are not double-reporting to a single CRA.  Rather, they're reporting slightly different details to each CRA.  Viewed individually, each CR looks normal, but a combined report looks this-

TU- Portfolio Recovery #12345  $2345

EQ- Portfolio Inc           #23451  $2435

EX-  Portfolio Credit      #34512  $3245

I discovered this while applying for a mortgage.  Once we figured out what the CA's were doing, the underwriter said "Normally we'd want you to clear these up.  But if they're going to play games, screw 'em.  Loan approved"  (I imagine my large down payment helped to sway her)
