Thanks for the information.  One other thing that I find particularly disturbing, about this collection, is that I have never received a 30 day dunning letter.  What is your thoughts?

There is no requirement for a CA to send a dunning notice prior to reporting.  They should have sent one once they posted to your CR.

Have you pulled your free reports from annualcreditreport.com?

Lack of dunning notice within 5 days after reporting is a violation of FCRA 609(a).

However, that is a debt collection practices violation, and is not basis for disputing their reporting of the collection under the FCRA of for its deletion from your credit report.

One reason why some debt collectors are kinda lax in timeliness of dunning notice.

Recourse is to file a formal complaint with the FTC or initiate your own legal action should you wish to pursue that separate issue.
