Yes you can. Feeling comfortable with your lender, and really the person handling your loan is extremely important. Someone who knows their business should make it extremely smooth for you. I am not sure what the extra info that was needed to be able to answer fully.. but absolutely you can apply elsewhere. Different companies have different underwriting timeframes... for instance, my company has a 24 hour or less underwrite. Regardless though, someone should be able to tell you upfront whether it works or not. Someone who knows their business, can calculate things, etc.. its really not rocket science.
