I know that there is a lot about UTIL - I read alot about 10%. My question is - what if my credit limiits, both individual and overall, are so high that I'm not comfortable spending that much just to get 10% UTIL on my cards?
Overall 10% would be over $2400; the lowest per card would be $100 (which would be fine) and the highest would be $650.
I'm guessing what some will say will be if I want to get higher UTIL I could just start using CC for most of my expenses, let them report, and then just pay them off after that? I dk..feels like a lot of work.
The point is to be UNDER 10%, not *exactly* 10%. You want to be under ten percent of the particular card being used as well. So in terms of total UTI this 'sweet spot' is going to be 'somewhere' between 1-9%
$100 on your lowest card should *probably* work fine. Be aware this balance can be paid a few days after the statement date to avoid interest charges, and then 'recharged' a few days prior to the statement date. Charging a weeks worth of groceries, then paying it off the following week would accomplish this.
Play around with the amounts and cards used each month to find what works best. Remember UTI has no 'memory' so one month does not affect following months.
