Sent a PFD letter (using the sample from here) for a $195 Geico collection on 1/10, today I received a call back from a private number from a woman with CCS. Said they started an incentive program in June where for payment in full, plus a $9.95 fee, they will send a paid in full/cb deletion letter within 8 days after payment is made. This is for the processing time to receive the funds. The letter supposedly tells the CB's to remove within 7-10 days from all reports. Said she couldn't get it faxed, but I took all her info and she repeated a couple times that the item would be removed from all reports.
I went for it and paid over phone with a cc. Figured I had nothing to lose at this point. Will let everyone know if it actually disappears, if not, I'll be filing every sort of dispute I can with all sources.
I would have went for it too, good luck!
+1 Shogun
($9.and change fee) Smart.....Very smart GEICO! If the other CA's were as clever as this little Gecko they'd be making $10 a pop for PFD's also! ... Very clever indeed.
Thanks! And I agree on the fee thing. Win/Win.
Well this has me thinking....would it be wrong, or illegal to offer such a fee. I am fixing to send out some PFD's and I wonder if offering a 10.00 fee in my PFD letter to cover their processing would perhaps plant the idea in CA's heads, or make it more enticing? Or is that considered "buying" credit or some other infraction?
I think a good old PFD should work if they are going to be open to accepting it anyway. Just my opin.
Wow this is very interesting. Which department in CSC was she from if I may ask?

Westo12 - Did you fax, email or mail the PFD letter to CSS? I have a $70 collection and want to see if I can get a PFD. Thanks!
