Life happens. Please don't judge.
It's $34 that got missed somehow. That in no way makes the OP a deadbeat. It just has to be a bookeeping mixup.
Be nice and no judging others. That is not why we are here.
The OP was in behind but paid it in full. The issue now is something else going on.
@ SHOGUN ,Wasnt trying to be rude but i will explain it to you. I live in Arkansas, and have full custody of my 7 yr daughter. For the first 2 yrs i paid th ex-wife, CS,Insurance,Day Care and spousal support. The last 5 yrs i have had full custody and have never received a dime and could care less if i did. But the original post stated he had his check garnished. Well in Arkansas they only garnished your check if you unwilling to pay . Again im not in a position to judge anyone because i dont know the facts. But what i do know is that they only Garnish you pay when you refuse to do anything in the first place.
@ guines56, Your right this is going in the wrong direction and i apologize.Just something that shouldnt have been said. Will be my last post about this matter.
Back on topic. I would contact them as guiness has said. With that small amount, it would have to be a clerical error, hopefully one that is easily fixed.
My check was never garnished. The child support comes out of my check and that is the way it is done in Arkansas now. Its done on an IWO form being sent to company.
Thank You for your reply Guiness. I have done that. They have the right amount, the lady says she believes its from a 5 week month not having enough sent to the clearing house. I know they took enough out of my check, cause thats done every week. I sent a check out today for the $34. I am hoping once they apply it, they will take it off my credit report. If not, I am going to try a letter explaining that I dont have a way to know how much company is actually sending, but they are taking every week the correct amount. Also, you are right, I am not a dead beat dad. I got behind, so the mother told me I could just pay her, and she dropped it through the office. When she got mad at me she went back and applied again. I was young and dumb. I told them I paid her, but basicly they said too bad, it has to go thru clearing house to be counted. They stuck me with a large amount of arrears. I have paid everything and thought all was ok for several months now. Decided to run my cr when I seen the $34. I am very willing to help with my daughter. I pay her medical, the support and give her money most every month for spending.
@ Rusty , The word dead beat never came out of my mouth, i was only stating from my experience. And of course the laws could have changed in the last 5 yrs . Being a CPA and I have to garnish people's paycheck for child support or judgements . I will tell you this If you asked your employer , by law they have to give you a copy from the state , in reguards to how much and when they will deduct it from your pay check. Also if somehow the amount goes up or down, they must give you thgis information 10 days before they proceed . Another thing is that some companies will try to charge you to do a garnishment.
Here is an Example:
Your Required Support Weekly = 100.00
You Company Fees to Process the garnishment = 3.00
The amount they send the State = 97.00
Results: Even though there taking the correct amount , your still short. This is borderline illegal but depends on what papers you signed when you were hired.
