CRA Updates?

How long does it take for the CRA to update? 

I made a couple of big payments on credit cards and I saw on my previous report that they report to the credit bureaus on the 20th.  How long will it take from the time the CC reports until the bureaus update my info on my credit report? 

Hoping for a point bump from this pay down.

I've had updates go through in 24 hours, but obviously it depends on the company and how fast they send new info to the CRA.

CCs update only once per month. Most CCs report based on your statement date and they'll usually report the balance you had on that day. And while the reporting date may be tied with the statement date, there is some lag-time based on the CRA. EX is faster at reporting, for me anyway, and TU has been the slowest. Now there are some oddball CCCs that report a little differently. Ones that come to mind are Amex, HSBC/Orchard, and possibly US Bank.
