Got a problem need solving. My dad had account with sears for 28 years this past year he purchased an oven that was returned and not credited. He immediately sent letter to dispute the charges and informed sears/cbna That the charges were inncorrest as he did not possess said oven. Any payment toward charges that were in dispute is legally an admission of liability or acceptance of debt. Then several other appliances were purchased and sent back on the truck they came on. Anyway something internally was happening with that sears location and they were then being double billed. It took nearly 6 months to rectify and get the proper charges noted. They are reporting multiple lates while this was in dispute. I sspoke with sears and they said they noted that there was a problem with the biulling and to send all this info to there credit card services as the lates should not have been reported or at present time been removed. Got letter back from credit services saying they reported correctly and would not remove. What can I do next? BBB atty general it also helps to know that my father is an attorney but knows nothing of the credit world like us junkies. I need to resolve this like yesterday as he is looking to refi his home. Please any and all thoughts!! I am presently on my way to work so shoot out the responses and Ill be back on in the later evening. Thank you very much!!

I think the BBB is a definite solid next approach. It looks like a major communication breakdown. I would try this first personally.

I've actually put a lot of thought into this one. I've actually read it a couple of times today and have been contemplating what I would do in his situation. What I've decided is that this is a billing issue. Being as this is what I think it is, I feel it's right in line for a BBB complaint. They have a complaint category just for this type of thing. So, if it were me, I'd file a complaint with the BBB first, and see where that goes. Hope it helps, and good luck to him.

That is a direct link to file a complaint. Make sure you have his information, account number, etc. It's a form field type of system, and then you have a comments box. It's very simple to use.
