I have made excellent progress in raising my FICO scores, but I think I messed up.
I had an old Sprint cell phone bill that was being collected on by Collection Company of America. To make a long story short, I paid a collections account that was past SOL (2 years for cell phones, correct?). I DV'd them and heard nothing for 2 months. After I paid, I received validation with a bill from 2005. Do I have any leverage with the Collection Company to have them remove this account from my reports since it was way past SOL or do I GW them and mention that I paid AFTER this account was past SOL? Any and all suggestions are appreciated.
not really.
by paying without a PFD agreement and without validation you have given away all the lever you had (money).
try GW letters. YMMV.
The CA don't care that you paid past SOL and I think you'd have much more luck with a GW letter by not mentioning this, IMO.
