Can anyone tell why my score changed?

I got a ScoreWatch alert today and it said my score went up.  Awesome! yes! But I can't figure out why.  My cc balacnes have went up a little, not down.  I pulled a EQ report and nothing has changed.  Any ideas?

Your FICO® score went up on a day when there were no credit alerts on your Equifax Credit Report. This can happen if:

  • The balances on one or more of your credit accounts decreased. In general, less debt is better for your score.
  • The credit limit on one or more of your credit accounts increased. Larger credit limits tend to help your FICO® scores if your balances remain the same.
  • Negative information on your credit report, such as a bankruptcy, collection, or record of a late payment, was removed because it was more than 7 years old (or 10 years old in the case of a bankruptcy).
  • Negative information on your credit report is not harming your FICO® score as much as before because it is now older. Past negative credit behavior, like missing payments or defaulting on loans, are offset over time by more recent history of credit responsibility

Re: Can anyone tell why my score changed?

Is it possible that something negative was deleted from your report? ScoreWatch does not alert you of deletions, so sometimes your score goes up but it can't tell you why.

Nope.  I pulled a new report just  a few minutes ago and everything is the same.

Maybe just the normal effect of aging accounts?

Re: Can anyone tell why my score changed?

Compare your prior reports and check it out. It's either aging or something negative dropped off. Always a nice surprise to get a bump in the right direction. I got a three point bump for closing a secured card that was a year or so old.

Re: Can anyone tell why my score changed?

I checked.  There is nothing different.  Same tax lien, same paid medical and 2 unpaid medicals.  All balances are the same.  I can see no changes.   I go a 20pt increase today.  That's pretty considerable.

Lol, kind of agree here! I don't have my FICO scores yet, but my CK FAKO jumped 45 points when I checked today. I know it's a FAKO, but I'm hoping it has some ring of truth that my real FICOs have gone up. lol

Re: Can anyone tell why my score changed?

My FAKO's go against the grain.  Mine are always a lot lower than my FICO's.  Wal-Mart TU is 671 CreditKarma TU is 615.
