Can they do this?!

A new collection account from RCS/CVF Consumer Acquisitions popped up on my report today Smiley Sad

Anyways...I didn't recognize it at first, but then I realized it was the CA for an old Cap1 CO.  But wait....the date they're listing an open date 8/2011?!  The DOLA reported by Cap1 is 10/2005.  Will this add another 7 years to the waiting game?  What's worse is this was a card with a $300 limit and they're reporting a balance of $988.  sigh....

Re: Can they do this?!

Date open is the date the debt was sold or assigned to the CA.

OC can report up to 7years from the DoFD.

A CA can report up to 7 1/2 years from the OC DoFD.

DoFD is the first 30 day late on a OC account, that was never brought back to a current status again.
