Cant get approved for secured cards, but don't think it's credit score - please help

I recently got Credit Karma to start tracking and trying to fix my credit.  I've applied for secured cards from capital one and first progress and the AMEX green card, but were denied all three.  I know my score is bad, but I feel like I should still get approved.  I have a 569 from TransUnion and 520 Vantage.

One of my debts (that has been turned into collections) is for a Credit Union account that I stopped using after it went too negative.  Another is for a Captial One Platinum card.  Would those be the reasons why I'm getting turned down?

I also moved a month ago and have been putting my new address on the apps.  I wasn't sure if that affected it at all.

Any help would be great.  I'm trying to become a stock broker, but I know I won't get the job after they do a credit check.

I would be working to get the negatives taken care of before apping for any further cards, being denied for secured is telling you something.

Your bank (if they offer it) may be the best bet if you're looking for ANYTHING to build your credit.

I feel your frustration, best thing to do is apply for a secured card where they don't really do a credit check such as openskycc.

Don't apply anywhere you have COs and if your also on chex and cant open a bank acct make sure the card you apply for is hassle free to where you don't have to pay $10 to mail in a check or use a prepaid card.

Also you have to have income, usually,  if you put you make $0 you won't get approved.

Ask a specialist here or an attorney etc what you can use for income if you actually don't have a job yet.
