Capital One CLI

Hi everyone,

So I woke up this morning to see that Capital One has increased my CL by $1000. Really excited about this of course. What I want to know is, will this increase my FICO scores at all? Trying to buy a house next year and every increase helps.

Re: Capital One CLI

It depends on what the balance was on the card and others. If utlization limit was at 0% overall, you shouldn't see any change.

if over 10% I would imagine you would see some score raise because your utilization would be lowered.

Re: Capital One CLI

Thanks for answering, independentlady7. I still owe $466 on the card. My original CL was $800, minus that $466 I am still paying down.

Re: Capital One CLI

Congrats!!!  I have 3 active credit cards with Capital One. One was opened in 2009 and still has the inital limit of $1000, but it has 2 30 day late marks and one over the limit mark...so I guess I can understand. The other 2 are only a couple months old with $500 limits.  I sure wish they would increase my limits!

Any input on getting a CLI?   Specifically the older one. The newer 2 are on a step prgram and scheduled to increase to $750 on the 7th month, provided the payment history was maintained.

Your utilization will go from 58% (466/800) to 26% (466/1,800). I would think that would help you but only time will tell exactly how much.

ETA: I had one of the numbers wrong. It's now fixed.

Re: Capital One CLI

Nice CLI,

I have two cards with them and have never gotten a CLI. I only have one late in Feb 2009 that they removed. So every 6 months since 2009, I have asked for CLI on both cards and gotten none.

+1 on MV's explanation

Re: Capital One CLI

I must say that I was a bit shock to receive the increase. I opened the card in 2007, and this is the first increase I have ever gotten.  I have never been late paying the bill, but I have maxed it out a couple of times and only now am I using it responsibly.  Good luck to all of you hoping for an increase. Hope it happens soon!
