Capital One Good Will HELP NEEDED

Hi All,  So I sent a GW letter to Capital One asking for an account deletion.   This account has several baddies from 2006/2007 and 2008 (the worst of them early 2008 including a 120 day).  These were all during the very bad seperation/divorce saga, I know not a great excuse but those of you that have been through it understand.  Anyway, I got a letter back from Cap One asking for the FULL account number (which I do not have),  plus the copy of the form letter they sent and a copy of the good will letter I wrote as well as proof that they didn't report correctly?  Any thoughts/ideas/recommendations on how I should proceed?  Thanks a bunch Jacki

Re: Capital One Good Will HELP NEEDED

Pull your real credit report from Transunion. Transunion showed me all of my account numbers in full the last time I pulled it.

You can pull it from annualcreditreport.com, or you can go to TU's site and act like you're going to file a dispute, and they'll show your credit report.

Re: Capital One Good Will HELP NEEDED

I am not sure if it will work on a closed account, but I would call them and ask for a GW deletion.  I just called them last week using the first number listed under the "backdoor phone number" section on the forum, and I spoke with an account specialist who removed all the lates on my account.  Now this is an open account, so I am not sure how it will work on a closed account but it is worth a try.

Re: Capital One Good Will HELP NEEDED

Well I had a small success...I think.  I got through to an actual person in the Dispute Department.  She told me that the account isn't showing up in the standard database, but is in another one.  She couldn't change/delete any information but she encouraged me to dispute through teh CRA's as there is a chance that it will get deleted as it won't be verified against the database that she found the account it.  Long shot but at least it is something.  Now that I know that it isn't listed where it should be I will continue to dispute....

Good luck, when I disputed I ended up with a KD on my account for the month Smiley Sad I am not really sure if KD hurts my score though
