Hello,
I'm trying to obtain a mortgage and raise my credit score.
I have:
CAPITAL ONE BANK
on my credit report from 12/07. It is a "charge off" and closed.
I have been working with LexingtonLaw, and they basically told me not to pay the balance. Is this correct, or should I pay it? What is a pay to delete, would that help?
Many Thanks,
Smh.. something you can have done yourself. You write a letter saying you will pay an amount for this to be deleted off your report. Costs you 20mins and 45 cents.
Why did they tell you not to pay it?
They(LexingtonLaw)said they couldn't dispute it and get it removed from my credit if I paid it.(I didn't think to question the hired professionals.) But it's almost been a year now, and I have seen very little progress.
If I do a pay to delete, do I do it with Capital One or the collection agaency(LVNV FUNDING LLC)?
They're both showing on my credit report.
Capital One shows it as a charge off, and LVNV shows as a collection.
Thanks very much for your help.
Does CAP 1 show a balance?
I would do a PFD with the CA then GW Cap 1.
Cap 1 Shows a $0 blance
LVNC Shows a $704 balance
(^Even though my limit was $300, I assume interest)
Thanks very much for your help
CA is LVNV not LVNC(oops)
If Cap 1 shows a 0 balance they sold the debt to LVNV and you will need to work with them.
Is LVNV reporting correctly? The difference in amounts could be interest and fees if they are allowed to collect those.
