Hi Everyone:
I have a judgement on my report from Capital One for a defaulted CC. The account never went to collections, they sent it straight to a lawyer.
Having been young and stupid and knowing nothing about credit, I never showed up in court. About 5 years ago, I started paying the weekly payments to the sherriff who was accepting payments for the judgement, then stopped.
I want to get this resolved and have this judgement satisfied. I don't have the cash to pay in full, what are my options?
Do I contact the law office and try to set up a settlement?
Capital One is still reporting on my CR for the amount of the judgement. Can I settle directly with them?
I want to settle this before I get any wage garnishments or bank levys.
Any help is appreciated!
Are the payments you made reflected in the balance left on the judgment?
Yes, they were reflected. But, its been so many years since I made those payments, interest has caught up.
I would contact the attorneys office who got the judgment against you and make payment arrangements with them.
