Car dealership pulled credit twice

I recently applied for a car loan with a Ford dealership.  I filled out the online application and told the finance lady to only run it though Ford Motor Credit as I didn't want a bunch of inquiries.  I was told I was approved and to come in and test drive some trucks.  When I got to the dealership two days later the salesman ran my credit again without my knowledge.  It was a bad experience all the way around and I ended up not buying anything from them but now I have 2 hard pulls on my CR.

Can they do this legally?

Thanks!

Re: Car dealership pulled credit twice

The first time yes.  The second time is iffy.  However, they will only be scored as one.

I don't know why they would have run it 2 days apart.  You can call them and ask for it to be removed.

Re: Car dealership pulled credit twice

I had a 2 hard pulls from from Ford Credit within 2 days last year that never had any effect on my score. I would not worry too much about it, I dropped 5 points but had them back the next month on the FAKO sites.

Re: Car dealership pulled credit twice

We lost 2 pts., back the next month.  I wouldn't worry about it.  In order for the dealership to pull your credit, you would have had to sign something...did you?  How did they get your ss #?
