Changing drop-off dates on your CR

I just received a copy of my Experian report and was comparing it with a copy from Apr 2013. On my old report, I had a small collection from Verizon Wireless that was due to drop off in Nov 2015. Anyways, when I got my new report, it seems this account was bought by a debt buyer Pinnacle Credit Services. They started reporting the debt in Feb 2014, but the account is now on my record til Dec 2017 instead of Nov 2015?? Can they do this? Can they renew a debt?

Also, in a related matter. I also had a paid civil claim for $259 to the state of New York. On my old CR the drop off date was Aug 2015 and on the new report it' was changed to Aug 2017??

Can they just change the dates on a whim? What do you suggest I do?

Re: Changing drop-off dates on your CR

I'm not sure what 'DOFD' means or DV either Smiley Sad

Wouldn't I have to send a letter to Pinnacle since they bought the debt from Verizon?

DOFD is the date of first delinquency, which is the date on the original account where it became delinquent and never current again prior to being charged off.

Credit Reporting Time Period ( CRTP ) is 7.5 years from the DOFD for both the original account and any for subsequent collections associated with it.

Re: Changing drop-off dates on your CR

Hmmm I'm not sure what one is the date it went delinquent.

On the 4/13 Experian report, it has:

Date opened: 05/2008

Reported Since: 07/2011

Date of Status: 07/2011

Last Reported: 03/2013

08/2014 report (the one with Pinnacle)

Date opened: 12/2013

Reported Since: 02/2014

Date of Status: 03/2014

The drop off date went from 11/2015 to 12/2017

I'm not sure, but is it ever possible to call the credit agencies like Experian, etc directly? Even just to get an explanation from them?

I am so glad you post this question as Experian did that to me on one of my old CO's due to fall off Mar 2015, they changed it May 2015 and I have reports with the origianl fall off date. They are royal pain!
