Charge off with balance?

If account is charged off and sold to a collection agency shouldn't the original creditor show zero balance?

I have 8 chargeoffs .

4 zero balance

4 with balance.

If so can this be disputed?

If its sold to JDB it should report as -0- and then JDB starts reporting but if just a collection agency then usually oc. reports it.

Yes.

However, be sure that it was actually sold, and not just assigned to the debt collector.

Assigned collections will show a balance under both the OC account and the collection.
