I have an old charged off Cap One card (originally Orchard Bank).
It was charged off with a balance of $453.
There is also a collections account on my report for the same amount for $453, which I paid in full.
Shouldn't Cap One update the balance to zero since they sold the debt?
What kind of letter do I write?
The OC updates the debt balance to $0 either upon their sale of the debt if they sold the debt to the debt collector, or if they sitll own the debt, upon notification from their debt collector that the debt has been paid.
However, both the reporting of the CO and of the amount of the CO remains in the consumer's file under separate codes.
So yes, the current debt balance owed the OC is updated to $0, but that does not mean that the reported amount of the CO will become $0.
Charge Off does not mean the debt is sold. Being in collections does not mean the debt is sold.
Paying the debt means it should be updated. How long ago was it paid?
Paid in March of 2015
