I had a student credit card my freshman year in college. Long story short, I used it and couldn't afford to pay the bill. I have three lates on my report. 2 60 days late and 1 90 day late. I emailed them my goodwill letter through the secured emailing system and got this email at 10pm last night:
Thank you for contacting Chase. I appreciate this opportunity to assist you with your request to remove the late payment remarks from your credit bureau report for the account ending in XXXX. I would like to assure you that your satisfaction is important to us. I have researched all available options to see if the late remark could be removed, but unfortunately we are unable to remove the late payment information reporting on your credit report for this account. To make exceptions would not be equitable to our other card members. Derogatory information is reported when an account is more than 30 days delinquent. The Fair Credit Reporting Act requires the bank to accurately report all information regarding a Customer's account history. To preserve the integrity of the credit reporting system, we are unable to alter valid information reporting to the credit reporting agencies. We sincerely apologize that we are unable to meet your expectations concerning this matter. I have now emailed the EVP of credit card services and the CEO. I am determined to get the lates removed. I have read that with Chase, its a matter of reaching the right person on the right day. I have also read stories of success in the past. So I am not going to give up.These lates are what going to hurt me when I apply for a mortgage loan. That's my main reason for trying to get them removed. Any advice on what to do next while waiting? I will keep you posted once I hear something from my emails.
Has anyone had success with Chase recently?
I got the same response when I used the secure message center. I then tried emailing the CEO and got a response via email to call. When I called them woman said no dice. I think it's just a persistence thing. Eventually you might find someone who is in a good mood and empathizes with having fallen on rough times.
Yeah I'm still waiting. If all else fails, I'll just start with snail mail each month. But I'm determained and will not give up.
Diddo, I've been in an ongoing battle with Chase to remove 2 erroroneous lates. They were due to their systematic failure of auto-payment. The same exact situation happened at 3 of their competitors, who ALL recognized it and removed the lates (BOA, Discover, and Macy's). I've tried different execs from AVP's to the CEO (even spoke to an AVP, personally) to no avail. So, it's now in the hands of the CFPB. I tried being nice, but they keep accusing me of lying pretty much (not in so many words) and "no indication of me signing up for it online". I found this to be ridiculous, since I work in IT and am very particular on ensuring I did. Also, I had another card with them (now closed)-never late on, and a current mortgage. I started a thread about my issue a couple months ago on here.
Ok so I received a phone call today from the corporate office from Chase today. The lady I spoke too said she received the email (she was a different person from a different department, not one of the execs I emailed) and that she was going to look into it and give me a call back. She called me back about two hours later and stated that "unfortunately everything was being reported as accurate and that she could not make any changes because every thing was accurate. That sucks. So I'm all fresh out of options and guess I'll have to wait until 2017 until it falls off. I don't understand how some people have success and some don't. Don't get me wrong, the account is not being reported negative at the moment, its just the lates in the payment history is having a negative effect when someone reviews my credit report. The lates is what I want removed. Not the tradeline. Although having the tradeline removed would be AWESOME.

I heard this same "line" before getting 2 tradeslines removed and getting a GW adjustment to more than 8 accounts (none with Chase though). If you really want it gone, never accept that. keep goodwilling them, different departments, diff ppl , diff addresses, -- they will get sick of u and want it removed just as much as you do! Good luck!
